Agents of the FCT Police Command have apprehended at least 15 alleged kidnappers at several locations in Abuja.

The men were stated to be connected with the attempted kidnapping of the Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gwagwalada Branch, Mr David Aigbefor.

A senior police officer affirmed to our reporter on Friday that the suspects were connected with the thwarted attack on the apartment of Aigbefor at Tungan Maje during the week.

The gangs who were armed allegedly raided the residence of their victim in the early hours of Wednesday, but Aigbefor fought them off with the assistance of vigilantes in the community.

The abductors allegedly gained entrance into the residence of Aigbefor after destroying the gate and entry door of the living room with bullets.

In a video clip, the legal adviser clarified that he battled with the abductors for over 30 minutes before the vigilantes and the police arrived.

He said, “I had a running battle with the kidnappers for over 30 minutes. But God delivered me from their hands. I was able to fight them back even though they were wielding dangerous weapons.

“Using only a machete, I was able to strike and mortally injure one of the kidnappers. As you can see, these are bloodstains on the floor and walls of my living room.”
