Paul Scholes picks quarrel with Chelsea fans

Phil Foden is better than Frank Lampard — Paul Scholes.

Yes Paul Scholes did say it.

Some people tend not to let the sleeping dog lie, and again another Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes comes for a London team, Chelsea in what could become another football debate involving Frank Lampard.

The former Manchester United midfielder on his own end has ignited this debate within the peaceful football community  of Chelsea when he boldly stated that Manchester City’s Phil Foden has now surpassed the legendary Frank Lampard in terms of pure footballing ability.

Now, this is not a dig that the Chelsea fanbase will take so kindly considering Lampard is revered as one of Chelsea’s greatest players of all time, who managed to carve his legacy through his remarkable knack for finding the net from midfield and delivering crucial assists.

His departure from Stamford Bridge left an indelible mark, holding the prestigious title of Chelsea’s all-time leading goal scorer with an impressive tally of 211 goals, a remarkable feat considering his midfield role.

Furthermore, Lampard’s leadership as captain propelled Chelsea to numerous accolades, including three Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League triumph, and a Europa League victory.

Yet, Scholes, known for his astute footballing insights, boldly proclaimed the superiority of 23-year-old Foden over Lampard in terms of raw talent.

In an interview with Premier League Productions, Scholes emphasized Foden’s exceptional footballing prowess, asserting,

“Look, he is a better footballer than Frank Lampard, but Frank Lampard scored goals and won leagues for his club from midfield.”

Scholes further elaborated on his comparison, acknowledging Lampard’s influential role in securing titles for Chelsea while drawing parallels to Foden’s burgeoning impact on Manchester City’s success.

“Frank won leagues for his team because of the contribution he made in midfield, especially in big games, and with Phil Foden, I think we are seeing the same type of thing,” Scholes explained.
