Nigerian Army kill 11 in Zamfara and Katsina States

In recent military operations conducted in Zamfara and Katsina states, Nigerian Army troops have reported the successful elimination of at least 11 terrorists in separate raids on terrorist strongholds.

According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army and posted on X on Monday, the operations targeted the enclaves of known terrorist leaders, resulting in significant victories for the troops.

In Zamfara State, troops raided the hideout of notorious terrorist kingpin Hassan Yantagwaye in the Tsafe Local Government Area. Yantagwaye and his group had been responsible for various acts of terrorism and kidnappings in the North-West region.

During the operation, troops engaged in a gun battle with the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of three terrorists. Additionally, a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, and terrorist camps were destroyed.

In a separate operation in Katsina State, troops engaged terrorists in various locations within the Faskari Local Government Area. The intense gun battle led to the death of eight terrorists, and weapons along with military uniforms were seized from the terrorists.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned successful operations in other parts of the country. In Ebonyi State, troops encountered armed Effium militias during night patrols, resulting in the capture of one militia member and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

Meanwhile, in Ogun State, troops intercepted a significant quantity of suspected Cannabis Sativa being transported in a Mazda saloon car. The smugglers fled upon sighting the troops, abandoning both the vehicle and the illicit substances.

The Nigerian Army indicated that preliminary investigations are underway for the captured suspect in Ebonyi State and that the seized vehicle and illicit drugs in Ogun State will be handed over to the appropriate authorities following further investigations.
