Katsina govt recruits 304 for road traffic authority

The Katsina State Government has announced the recruitment of 304 additional personnel for the state’s Road Traffic Authority (KASROTA), aimed at enhancing its operational capacity.

Speaking to journalists over the weekend, the Director General of KASROTA, Retired Maj. Garba Yahaya-Rimi highlighted that the recruitment drive was initiated to augment the workforce and improve the agency’s effectiveness in curbing traffic violations.

Yahaya-Rimi emphasized that the newly recruited staff would complement the existing workforce of 96 personnel hired during the previous administration, which laid the foundation for the authority.

He further disclosed that the recruits have completed their training and are now deployed alongside the initial group to fulfil the agency’s mandate.

The KASROTA DG outlined the agency’s strategic plan to ensure the presence of traffic officers in all 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to enforce traffic laws diligently. Currently, personnel are stationed across 13 LGAs, with plans to recruit more staff to cover the remaining areas.

Yahaya-Rimi reiterated that KASROTA’s primary objective is to ensure road safety and uphold traffic regulations, emphasizing that it was not established as a revenue-generating entity but as a service provider committed to safeguarding citizens’ lives.
