Nigeria in turbulent times, says Governor Okowa
The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, discloses that Nigeria is in difficult times with declining economy caused by several factors, including deteriorating security across the country.
Okowa, who declared this on Friday, appealed to Nigerians to pray that God should transform the condition.
He said, “Many people are hungry and can no longer feed themselves because they can’t farm the way they used to due to growing insecurity.
“Pray for our nation because we are in troubled times; the country is insecure and our state is not left out because whatever affects the country affects the states.
“We are in troubled times because many people are hungry and can’t feed themselves, but we have hope that God will take control and change things for the better.
“Our economy has dwindled and insecurity is further worsening it; we can no longer farm as we used to but we are hopeful that God is able to turn things around for the nation.”
The Governor urged the citizens of the state to put their trust in God, particularly in this difficult time.
Kidnapping for ransom and banditry are one of the national security challenges faced in the nation especially in the northern states.
Nigeria is in troubled times with the rise of insecurity across the county.
The kidnapping is often violent and resistance always results in the death of victims. Thousands of Nigerians have fallen victim of the crime and have had to pay millions of dollars in ransom for their freedom.
Corruptions, unemployment, poor leadership, illegal arms importation among others, are causes of insecurity in the country.
The Buhari-led administration is currently addressing the situation of insecurity in the nation.
