Newcastle United faces Key Player setback before Arsenal Clash

In the lead-up to their crucial Premier League encounter with Arsenal, Newcastle United finds themselves at risk of losing another key player.

This concerning development follows the news of a significant ban handed to Sandro Tonali.

Sandro Tonali, the 23-year-old midfielder, who recently made a move from AC Milan to Newcastle in July, has been dealt a severe blow.

On Thursday, the Italian Football Federation confirmed a 10-month suspension for Tonali due to his breach of betting rules.

This suspension effectively sidelines him from Newcastle’s upcoming fixtures until August. Furthermore, it casts a shadow over his participation in the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, should Italy qualify.

Tonali had featured as a substitute in Newcastle’s recent Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, which ended in a 1-0 defeat. Regrettably for Newcastle, this would be his last appearance for the club for quite some time.

Adding to the Magpies’ woes is the precarious situation of fellow midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Guimaraes, hailing from Brazil, has already accumulated four bookings this season.

Should he receive one more yellow card during the upcoming match against Wolves, he will face a suspension that will keep him out of the critical league fixture against Arsenal.

Newcastle’s fixture list includes a Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash against Manchester United, situated between the Wolves match and the Arsenal showdown.

The good news for Guimaraes is that bookings in the Carabao Cup will not affect his eligibility for Premier League matches.

Therefore, he needs to exercise caution and avoid picking up a card in the game against Wolves to ensure his presence for Newcastle in the Arsenal encounter.
