MC snubs Peter Obi at Wigwe's Funeral

Emotions ran high in Omueke, Isiokpo village of Rivers State during the wake for late Access Holdings CEO, Herbert Wigwe as the Master of Ceremony (MC)  unwittingly stirred some controversy involving former Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The gathering, a solemn occasion to honor the memory of Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their eldest son Chizzy, who tragically perished in a plane disaster in the United States, took an unexpected turn when the MC inadvertently overlooked the presence of Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Dignitaries, visitors, well-wishers, and loved ones had convened to pay their respects to the departed souls, with anticipation building for the forthcoming burial ceremonies.

However, a video capturing the moment when the MC failed to acknowledge Peter Obi amidst other notable attendees quickly spread, igniting a wave of disapproval from the crowd.

The omission of Peter Obi’s presence sparked uproar, manifesting in audible boos that reverberated through the venue, catching the MC off guard and leaving him visibly perplexed.

It wasn’t until the magnitude of his oversight became apparent that the MC extended a public apology to Peter Obi for the unintended slight.

Despite the momentary disruption, dignitaries including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State Siminalyi Fubara, and Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State for 2023, remained present to offer their condolences and pay their last respects ahead of the scheduled burial ceremony on Saturday.
