Mason Mount's injury worse than feared, United on standby

Manchester United summer signing, Mason Mount is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury that is believed to be worse than initially thought.

Mount recently joined the Red Devils after making a bold move from Chelsea in a high-profile £55 million deal during the recent summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old midfielder started in the opening two Premier League matches but failed to make a substantial impact.

His league debut in the 1-0 victory against Wolves was underwhelming, with disappointing statistics highlighting his struggle to leave a mark on the game.

Subsequently, he returned once more to the lineup that faced certain defeat to  Tottenham in a 2-0 away loss.

Mason Mount’s performance in both games attracted criticism from fans, and a viral video after the Tottenham loss triggered bold claims from Chelsea supporters.

Adding to the challenges, Mount sustained a hamstring injury, which is now projected to keep him off the pitch for an estimated six weeks.

This could force him to miss crucial fixtures, including Manchester United’s upcoming league match against Nottingham Forest and the high-stakes encounter against Arsenal the following weekend.

The injury’s impact extends beyond the club scene, with Mason Mount’s absence casting doubts on his availability for the England national team in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and a friendly match against Scotland.

Furthermore, the injury layoff could see Mount miss upcoming league clashes for Manchester United against Brighton, Burnley, and Crystal Palace.

This could reportedly force Manchester United into being active in the transfer market for a replacement.
