Liverpool to return with second bid for Romeo Lavia

The drama gears on for Liverpool’s potential third signing of the summer, Romeo Lavia after the Reds’ first bid for the Southampton star was recent turned down by the Saints.

According to reports backed by Sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are not ready to back out of the deal for their target, despite their first bid worth £40m package being rejected.

Romano states that personal terms have already been agreed with the Romeo Lavia, as Liverpool had already established contacts with the former Manchester City star beforehand.

Southampton reportedly want a £50m package following negotiations that were initiated on Tuesday, the 25th.

It is unknown how much the Reds will bid this time for the player who as it stands isn’t down on admirers. Lavia currently has Chelsea looking into signing him this summer as well in their midfield rebuild.

Regarding the transfer drama, Southampton manager, Russell Martin spoke of the player’s mental strength in handling the pressure and playing on amidst the noise.

Martin said;

“He has a lot going on in his head… not easy for a young player to handle the noise, but he’s handled it well.”
“Latest news is very public, he may still be here he may not”
With Liverpool set to loose two additional midfield stars in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho despite the introduction of Dominik Szoboslai and Alexis Mac Allister to the fold this summer, additional reinforcements would be needed to get the Reds challenging for top 4 again.
Current reports however indicates that the exit of Fabinho from the Liverpool squad this summer may be hindered by bureaucratic challenges, with the Brazilian said to be resuming training once more in Liverpool until a deal to Al Ittihad is fast tracked.
