Liverpool legend, Carragher blows fume Over FSG and Klopp

The fume is starting to blow hot on Liverpool, and LFC legend, Jamie Carragher has started to call out the club over its inaction in getting the Romeo Lavia deal done in time for the season opener against Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia for a few weeks now has reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar with the Merseyside club moving with snail-lake pace in getting the deal done, which ironically is out of character for the club who is known for getting their transfers done almost immediately as the media gets wind of it.

The six times champions have had their 3 bids for the Belgian rejected by his current club, Southampton, with Jamie Carragher getting into a furious row on social media to question the club, its owners and Jurgen Klopp in an argument with Man United legend, Gary Neville.

In a fiery exchange on Twitter, the former football rivals turned Sky Sports pundits, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, found themselves embroiled in a heated debate over Liverpool’s transfer strategies.

The argument was sparked by news of Liverpool’s third rejected bid for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, valued at approximately £45 million.

Carragher, who played for Liverpool, expressed his disappointment, deeming it “embarrassing” that his former club had failed to meet the £50 million price tag set for Lavia.

He further questioned Liverpool’s choice to not pursue Brighton’s Moises Caicedo as an alternative transfer option.

Neville, a legendary figure at Manchester United, didn’t miss the opportunity to stir the pot, responding cheekily,

“Do you now agree that [Liverpool boss] Klopp has shielded your owners for the last 5-6 years?”

Carragher’s response was swift and incensed. The former Liverpool center-back vehemently defended the club’s owners, stating,

“Gary, you haven’t a clue what’s going on at Liverpool! The owners have a self-sustaining model that Klopp bought into and produced miracles!”

He pointed out that part of Liverpool’s success was attributed to their transfer department, which had been the envy of Europe.

Carragher asserted that this has changed with Klopp now having a more hands-on role in the club’s operations, which he implied might have affected their recent transfer approach.

“LFC have had three Directors of Football in just 18 months,” Carragher continued, shedding light on the club’s internal dynamics.

He highlighted the current Director of Football, who temporarily came out of retirement to manage this summer’s transfers and maintained close ties with Klopp.

Carragher also emphasized the financial differences between Liverpool and other clubs, revealing that Liverpool’s annual wage bill surpasses that of Arsenal by £150 million.

Carragher laid a sarcastic jab at Neville and his involvement with Salford, stating,

“Liverpool don’t have an investor (Peter Lim) like you do at Salford, where you & lads just get on a plane at the end of the season to beg him to spend more money!!”

The intense back-and-forth between the two pundits showcased their differing perspectives on Liverpool’s recent transfer activities and the influence of manager Jurgen Klopp.

While they may have put their on-field rivalries behind them, their off-field debates continue to spark headlines and captivate fans.
