Kwara state community head arrested for violating peace

The District Head, Mogaji of Budo Osho, Tanke area, Ilorin, AbdulGaniyu Akorede, has been ordered by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday to be remanded in a Federal Correctional Service Centre for allegedly hiring hoodlums to disrupt the community’s peace.

Akorede was taken to court after hiring hoodlums to chase away people who bought land from the community and evading police arrest until a bench warrant was issued against him by the court

Habeeb Abdullahi of Fate Road, Ilorin, reported the presence of suspected hoodlums on a disputed site at Budo Osho, when he was allegedly harassed by the suspected hoodlums hired by the Mogaji. This was according to the Police First Information Report.

The report added that two suspects had one sharp cutlass and wraps of dried substance suspected to be Indian hemp among other incriminating items were recovered from them.

The Magistrate, Mr Hanafi Folorunsho, after listening to the submission of the prosecutor, ordered that Akorede be remanded in the Federal Correctional facility in Ilorin until the next hearing date.

The case was adjourned till April 26 for hearing.
