Kaide Gordon returns creating problems for Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool’s young forward, Kaide Gordon, is poised to make his return to full training later this month following a lengthy 17-month absence due to injury.

This development comes as Jurgen Klopp oversees an extensive rebuild of his Liverpool squad.

In recent weeks, Liverpool has made significant signings, including the £60 million acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai and the £35 million capture of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. As the club prepares for pre-season, they also anticipate the return of players who have been sidelined due to injury, with Kaide Gordon’s comeback being particularly notable.

According to reports from The Athletic, the 18-year-old winger, who joined Liverpool from Derby in 2021, resumed running on grass in May and will now step up his rehabilitation by participating with the under-21 team in two weeks’ time.

Kaide Gordon has made four appearances for Liverpool’s senior team and has been out of action since February 2022 due to a pelvic growth issue. During his absence, the club provided him with a specialized training program to aid his recovery.

Upon his return, Gordon will receive a personalized plan from the club, taking careful measures to avoid overloading him as he regains full fitness.

Looking ahead to Gordon’s future, he is reportedly not expected to feature in Liverpool’s pre-season tour, which is scheduled to commence later this month. Instead, he will likely begin the 2023-24 season with the Under-21s before progressing to first-team training.

Liverpool academy boss Alex Inglethorpe spoke to The Athletic about Gordon’s challenging journey, stating, “It was a really difficult season for Kaide. Possibly even harder given where he was when he got his injury. But I’ve kept in touch with Kaide regularly throughout, and I’d back him to find a way back to where he was. He’s certainly got the character to do that.”

Inglethorpe emphasized that Gordon’s priority will be to reintegrate into the Under-21s during pre-season, regain his confidence in his body, and find his rhythm. He believes that with dedication and perseverance, Gordon can make a successful return. Inglethorpe added, “After that, anything is possible.”

Once Gordon has regained full match fitness, it is anticipated that he may be sent out on loan early next year to further develop his skills and gain valuable playing experience.

As Liverpool’s pre-season preparations take shape, fans eagerly anticipate the return of Kaide Gordon and the impact he could potentially make on the team in the coming season.
