President Buhari has arrived in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, to unveil several Federal Government projects, including the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI). This project is seen as one of the legacies of the Buhari administration and is meant to establish Nigeria as a hub for agro-allied technology, equipment, and machinery. The goal of AMEDI is to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and create more sustainable jobs for the nation’s young population.

AMEDI is a multi-billion naira project under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure and is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and machinery for mechanized farming and agricultural development. The Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI, Prof. Muhammed Haruna, expressed his optimism that AMEDI will help the Federal Government achieve its goals for food security in the country. Haruna also indicated that similar centers will be inaugurated in other parts of the country within the Buhari administration’s lifetime.

Buhari’s visit to Lafia also includes the unveiling of the newly constructed Federal Secretariat, a visit to the Emir’s Palace, and attending a campaign rally for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Lafia Stadium. After the rally, the president is expected to return to Abuja, where he will endorse and present the APC’s presidential, governorship, and other candidates to the electorate.

The Buhari administration’s commitment to improving food production and creating job opportunities for the youth is evident in the investment in AMEDI and the president’s visit to Lafia. This project is a significant step towards making Nigeria a major player in the agricultural sector and improving the nation’s overall food security.
