Jurgen Klopp analyzes Liverpool's problems ahead of Deadline day

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp in his latest pre-match press conference ahead of the tie against Aston Villa this weekend, spoke about the challenges facing the Reds ahead of the summer transfer deadline.

The German started by refusing to comment on Bayern Munich player, Ryan Gravenberch’s potential transfer to Liverpool as he preferred to speak on it once the dust had settled.

“We cannot talk about that. If something happens we can talk about it on Sunday.” the former Borussia Dortmund boss said.

The Liverpool boss then went on to address other potential incomings at the club, hinting that Ryan Gravenberch might be the last signing of the Reds despite admitting the team looks weaker at the back.

“It’s deadline day, I don’t want to kill the excitement of the people, but I’m busy with other things.” Jurgen Klopp stressed.

The manager went on to analyze the current midfield situation at the club, hinting that it might not be easy for the club moving forward as the team has had to do away with its most successful midfield lineup for a more younger set of players.

The German stressed that though the current crop of midfield talents were a goal threat compared to the previous lineup of James Milner, Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara, the new lineup was much more younger and less experienced.

The Liverpool boss went on to confirm Thiago would be out against Aston Villa after suffering a set back in his return to team training.

“We had to replace the most successful midfield in the recent history of this club.”

“We got younger, we had to. I love this team.”

Jurgen Klopp also spoke about Trent Alexander Arnold’s game against last weekend’s rivals, Newcastle United and the probability of Arnold captaining the side against Aston Villa this weekend.

“I thought for a minute or two ‘do we need to change him?’ Very happy I didn’t do it. And even happier how Trent got through that game. He was calm. He was super important.” he said.

About Mohamed Salah’s potential departure from Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp maintains that the Egyptian was staying put despite any offer that might come for the former AS Roma star.

“Our position remains the same. No offer as far as I know.”
