Amidst the implementation of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Management System (IPPMS) in Jigawa State, approximately 7,800 unverified civil servants face the risk of losing their April salaries.

The verification process, intended to streamline payroll management, encountered challenges, including injuries during data capture and allegations of extortion.

In response, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have called for the government to address these issues and ensure affected workers receive their salaries through the old system until verification is completed.

Deputy Governor Aminu Usman confirmed that 4,496 J-teach workers have been screened, with plans to verify the remaining permanent and pensionable staff soon.

As a temporary measure, salaries for these workers have been disbursed using the old system to mitigate financial hardships.
