Jigawa LG denies unvaccinated workers salary

Garki Local Government area in Jigawa State has resort to immediate withholding of salaries for all the unvaccinated civil servants under the local government payroll.

The LG Chairman, Alh. Mudasir Musa gave the directive at the inauguration of Local Government COVID-19 task force held at the Local Government Secretariat, in Garki.

He said no worker under the local Government’s payroll will receive December salary without showing his COVID-19 vaccination card.

He said the decision become necessary to complement the Government’s efforts to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Dutse Local Government Council has also barred all unvaccinated staff from accessing the Local Government Secretariat.

The Local Government Chairman, Bala Usman Chamo gave the dirctive at the flag-off of COVID-19 exercise held at the Local Government Secretariat.

He said no civil servant will be allowed to get access to his office without showing his COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

“The whole idea is to show people the importance of the vaccine, because they are reluctant to accept the vaccine.

“The Federal and State Governments have already launched the exercise; so, we are doing the same,” Chamo stated.

As of 14 December 2021, 8.52 billion doses of COVID‑19 vaccines have been administered worldwide based on official reports from national public health agencies.
