Liverpool’s number 6 Thiago Alcantara reflects on his time at Liverpool and his confirmed exit upon the expiration of his contract.

After it was confirmed that he would be departing Liverpool at the end of the season, midfielder Thiago Alcantara had some emotional words for the club and the fans as he exits the team.

Though barely featuring this season, the former Bayern Munich star had a few memories to relief with Liverpool, after aiding the Reds in their famous charge for the quadruple in the 2021/22 season.

Liverpool would then go on to lift 2 trophies, with Thiago missing the domestic cup final against Chelsea through injury prior to kickoff. The Spaniard featured in the Champions League final which the Reds went on to sadly lose in thanks to a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

“Appreciation and gratitude. They are two words that come to mind on the day I have to say goodbye to all of you, Reds. Thankful, too.

“Thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this city, this club and this community. The continuous support I have received since day one has been incredible: Anfield cheering, The Kop chanting… amazing, overwhelming. A very unique fan base for a unique club.

“These past four years have been a time of learning for me and my family. Some wins, some defeats, but without a doubt, a life-changing experience.

“Team mates, coaches, staff, and club employees: you were all part of it. And to the fans, I don’t have the words. Just know you will have my deepest gratitude forever. Thank you, it was an honour. All the best always, Liverpool FC. Thiago.”
