I will be surprised if attack was meant for me, says Soludo
Subsequent to the attack on a previous Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, by gunmen which led to the demise of three Police officials, he has criticised the incident, stating that he would be surprised if the attack was intended for him.
Talking on a programme on Channels TV monitored by Top Naija, Soludo portrayed himself as a village boy, who runs, plays and trains in his village.
The Professor declared that his village is the most secure place for him in the entire world.
Condemning the attack, he added that it was not an “Anambra way”. Soludo stated that although Anambrarians might differ ideologically in politics, they are still brothers.
“The attack is not the Anambra way. I will be shocked that it was aimed at me. I will not want to preempt until investigation is complete.”
Soludo expressed astonishment that someone would come after him.
Lauding the immediate action of Governor Willie Obiano and security agents in the state, Soludo declared that he was unharmed and had received some security personnel’s in his residence.
Charles Chukwuma Soludo was born 28 July, 1960. He is a Nigerian economics professor and a former governor and chairman of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Soludo was named governor on 29 May 2004. He is also a member of the British Department for International Development’s International Advisory Group.
He is a core professional in the business of macroeconomics. He obtained his three degrees and then professorship at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Soludo graduated with a First Class Honours degree in 1984, an MSc Economics in 1987, and a PhD in 1989, winning prizes for the best student at all three levels.
He is happily married to Nonye Soludo, and their marriage is blessed with six children.
