"I don't know what's going to happen" -- Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has reacted to the summation that he is set to depart the North London side for Barcelona after the conclusion of the current campaign.

Following the announcement that Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp will be stepping down from his position as manager, Barcelona boss, Xavi Hernandez also confirmed he would be leaving the Catalan club after the conclusion of the current campaign, thus sparking the Mikel Arteta to Barca rumors.

However, the Spaniard moved to squash the rumors as nothing but ‘fake news’.

While speaking to reporters, Arteta said;

“These fake news about me leaving in June make me upset. I’m immersed in a beautiful journey with my players, the staff, our beautiful people… there’s still a lot to do here at Arsenal.”

“I always said I’m in the right place,”

The Arsenal manager also addressed his contract situation with the club amidst the speculation, hinting at what might come in the future;

“This is something that will happen naturally when it happens. I’ve got a strong relationship with the board. We’re not discussing new deal now but it will come in a natural way.” he said.

He also added, “We’ve always done it that way and we’ve done it really well.”

Mikel Arteta also spoke about the possibility of managing another premier league club, presumably a rival club to the Gunners. The Spaniard did not rule the possibility out however, stating;

“Today, no. But I don’t know, I played for two big clubs in this country. I’ve moved around in different things, I’m extremely young, and I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
