"Why Mohbad is haunting them" -- Mohbad's Father reveals

Mr. Aloba Joseph, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, otherwise known by his stage name Mohbad, has revealed a conversation that was had between popular musician Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, before Mohbad’s passing.

However, prior to his passing, Mr. Aloba alleges that his son’s wife had been lacing Mohbad’s food with sleeping pills, disclosing infidelity on her part.

Mohbad, aged 27, died on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest the very next day. His death sent ripples through the entertainment industry and the general public.

In response, the Lagos State Government initiated a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

The inquest, which commenced on October 13, is currently underway at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

During his testimony at the coroner’s court, Mr. Aloba, Mohbad’s father, confirmed that his late son had been residing with Naira Marley since December 2019.

He disclosed that Mohbad had confided in him, expressing his belief that he could resolve his disagreements with the Marlian record label boss.

Mr. Aloba also informed Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that he and his son had lived together for 18 years. He claimed to have had no knowledge of the exact residence where his late son was residing with Naira Marley until Mohbad’s unfortunate passing.

Mr. Aloba detailed his son’s journey into music and his collaboration with Naira Marley. Mohbad had left his father’s home once he reached the age of consent, and he embarked on his music career while assisting Naira Marley.

According to Mr. Aloba, he had seen his son just three days before his untimely demise. He revealed that he had only seen his son’s casket in a photograph.

Additionally, he claimed that the deceased’s landed property was in the custody of his mother-in-law, further asserting that Mohbad had often informed him about his assets being held by his wife and her family.

Mr. Aloba alleged that Mohbad’s wife had put sleeping pills into his food during their time living with Naira Marley. He asserted that his daughter-in-law had been unfaithful to the deceased.

Mr. Aloba also disclosed that, after reconciling with his mother, Mohbad had purchased a car for him.

At the outset of the proceedings, Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi expressed his condolences to Mr. Aloba on the tragic loss of his son and promised that justice would be diligently pursued in this case.
