Gunmen free father and son after ₦3m ransom in Edo

A man, Godwin Osakwe, and his 17-year-old son, who were kidnapped on Tuesday have been released on Thursday after their family paid N3m ransom, TopNaija reports.

 

Godwin Osakwe and his son were abducted at the Ahor village end of the Benin bypass.

A source familiar with the incident said both father and son were released after the ransom was paid.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of three people at the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, in the Esan North East Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, said the police were on the trail of those behind the abduction.

“It is true; three persons were kidnapped — two students and a staff member. The police are after the kidnappers and we will get them,” he said.

It was learnt that gunmen on Wednesday stormed the school, abducting two students and a lecturer.

As of the time of filing this report, what led to the kidnap was unknown, while the kidnappers had yet to contact the school authorities or families of the victims.
