Fred Had To Be A Mosquito To Secure Our Victory – Ten Hag

Manchester United vs. Barcelona was quite the spectacle for audiences of the Europa League round of 32 play offs, and one man who had the luxury of holding his head high, is United midfielder, Fred who was key in contributing to the victory.

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has praised the Brazilian midfielder, Fred for his performance in the team’s 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday. Ten Hag described Fred as “a mosquito” due to his relentless work rate in man-marking Frenkie de Jong throughout the match.

Fred was given the specific task of marking De Jong and he carried out his duties to perfection. The Brazilian midfielder was constantly on the Dutchman’s tail, preventing him from having any significant impact on the game.

Fred’s hard work eventually paid off when he scored the equalizer for Manchester United after Robert Lewandowski had opened the scoring with a penalty.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Ten Hag singled out Fred for praise, saying, “Fred? His role was to stop Frenkie de Jong, he was like a ‘mosquito’ all over him – he did it.”

Fred’s performance was an important contribution to Manchester United’s progression to the last 16 of the Europa League. The Red Devils will now eagerly await the draw for the next round, as they look to continue their quest for European glory.

“Fred? His role was to stop Frenkie de Jong, he was like a ‘mosquito’ all over him — he did it,” Ten Hag said after the game.
