Darwin Nunez rubbishes injury diagnosis to jump fence
Here is why I did it — Darwin Nunez on Wembley celebration.
He may be a £100 million player like every other player these days, but there can only be one Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan’s antics was on display at Wembley despite the Striker being ruled out of the game due to a muscle injury he picked up against Brentford.
With the Reds’ chances of winning a trophy this season in the balance, Skipper, Virgil van Dijk came through for Liverpool to slot home the win in the 118 minute of extra time against Chelsea. And thanks to Van Dijk’s header, Darwin Nunez could live up to his dream of jumping off the fence at Wembley to celebrate Liverpool winning their first trophy of the season.
The Liverpool striker days after the Wembley incident, has addressed the viral video that captured his emotional celebration of Virgil van Dijk’s winning goal in the Carabao Cup final.
Taking to Twitter to explain the motivate behind his celebration, Darwin Nunez wrote while captioning the video;
“Told you I would jump if we scored. What a game!”
Well, the Uruguayan did have a promise to keep and no injury was going to stop him doing what a Darwin Nunez would do.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp acknowledged Nunez’s celebration, noting,
“Darwin and Dom are not fit, that’s why they didn’t play, but in the celebrations they looked 100 per cent. So I will have to speak with the medical department about that.”
However, it is still unclear if the Uruguayan will feature any time soon for Liverpool.
