“I’ve won Six, he won Three” — Guardiola mocks Mourinho
The pressure of Manchester City’s uncharacteristic Premier League slump is bringing out the sharpest claws we never knew Pep Guardiola has.
Ahead of a crucial clash with Nottingham Forest, the Catalan manager delivered a heated press conference that took aim at rival fans—and even a cheeky dig at his old nemesis, Jose Mourinho.
Still reeling from a fourth consecutive league defeat, this time to Liverpool, Guardiola faced media questions about his six-finger gesture at Anfield. The signal, referencing his six Premier League titles with City, was Guardiola’s response to taunts of “you’re getting sacked in the morning.”

Unapologetic, Guardiola defended his antics, stating:
“I was never cool. I was only cool because we won. When you don’t win, it’s completely the opposite.”
The gesture immediately drew comparisons to Mourinho’s iconic three-finger salute at Manchester United, where the self-proclaimed “Special One” demanded respect for his three Premier League triumphs.
When asked if he was following the path of Mourinho’s infamous “beginning of the end” era at United, Guardiola couldn’t resist a playful jab.
“I hope not in my case… He won three, I won six,” Pep quipped, adding, “We are together in those situations, but I just want to show that what we’ve done at City is extraordinary.”
