Dangote Cement threatens legal actions over Fake News

Dangote Cement Plc. has officially refuted claims circulating online that the company has lowered the price of cement per bag, dismissing these reports as false and misleading.

The purported news, widely spread on various media platforms and social media, suggested that Dangote Cement had introduced a promotional sales offer, reducing the cost of a cement bag to a range between N2,400 and N2,700.

One of these reports allegedly quoted a promotional factory price of N2,410 per bag and an additional N300 charge for transportation and offloading to any location within Nigeria.

Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, not only reiterated the company’s previous disavowal of these claims but also described them as malicious and deceptive.

Chiejina stated that Dangote Cement has taken these false reports seriously, alerting law enforcement agencies to identify and take action against those responsible for spreading fake news.

Chiejina also advised Dangote Cement customers and stakeholders to continue their support for the brand, emphasizing the need to remain cautious of potential scammers who aim to defraud individuals of their resources.

According to reports, the push for Dangote Cement to reduce its prices began following a recent announcement by BUA Group, another prominent player in the cement industry, signaling a potential price shift in the market.

However, Dangote Cement has asserted that it has not initiated such a price reduction at this time.
