Chelsea 'reportedly' includes Victor Osimhen in 3-man shortlist

In a bid to fortify their attacking force, Chelsea has reportedly set sights on Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as a priority target for the upcoming transfer window.

The Evening Standard reveals that the Blues are keen on acquiring the prolific forward, who has showcased remarkable form with 31 goals across all competitions last season and continues to impress in the current campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side has curated a three-player shortlist to reinforce their front line, with Victor Osimhen emerging as their prime choice, as per reports.

The growing interest in the Nigerian striker coincides with influential persuasion from former Chelsea midfielder and Super Eagles legend, John Obi Mikel.

During the latest episode of his podcast, ‘The Obi One,’ where Victor Osimhen made a guest appearance, Mikel openly expressed his intent to facilitate Osimhen’s move to Stamford Bridge.

In a compelling conversation, Mikel confidently asserted, “I’m going to be the agent to broker that deal” with Chelsea, firmly stating, “You’re 100% coming to Chelsea!”

Mikel’s conviction was founded on a vision for Osimhen at the Premier League giants, emphasizing the void left since the departure of Didier Drogba.

He highlighted Osimhen’s stature, goal-scoring ability, and suitability for Chelsea’s ambitions, asserting,

“We haven’t had anybody with that figure and stature who can score goals in big games. I feel like you are that person and fit in with what we want to achieve at that club.”

Moreover, Mikel dissuaded Osimhen from considering offers from the Middle East, urging him to wait for the right opportunity at Chelsea.

His persuasive efforts aimed to sway Victor Osimhen toward a future with the London club, echoing the sentiments of Chelsea’s pursuit of the formidable striker.
