Chelsea eyeing Roberto De Zerbi as Pochettino replacement

It is beginning to look like a love affair between Brighton and Chelsea at this point in time, considering the many transfers that have occurred between both clubs in recent seasons.

Now, it is being reported that another Brigton to Chelsea transfer may be on the cards if current Blues manager, Mauricio Pochettino is sacked.

According to sources cited by the UK Guardian, Chelsea’s co-owner Todd Boehly is leading the charge in considering managerial options, with Amorim and Brighton boss, Roberto De Zerbi catching the club’s attention for their respective achievements in the footballing realm.

Ruben Amorim, who currently manages Sporting in Portugal, has garnered significant praise from Chelsea’s hierarchy. Sporting’s impressive performance this season, leading the Portuguese league ahead of traditional powerhouses Benfica and Porto, has undoubtedly contributed to Amorim’s appeal.

Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi has also drawn admiration for his work at Brighton since assuming the managerial role in 2022, succeeding Graham Potter. De Zerbi’s accomplishments with the Premier League club have not gone unnoticed, further bolstering his candidacy for the Chelsea managerial position.

The Blues find themselves in a state of flux under Pochettino’s leadership in his inaugural season at Stamford Bridge. Despite substantial financial investment exceeding £1 billion following Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s takeover, Chelsea has struggled to achieve desired results on the pitch.

The Carabao Cup final against Liverpool presented a significant opportunity for Chelsea to clinch silverware this season. However, their aspirations were dashed as they succumbed to defeat late in extra time, failing to seize the coveted trophy.
