Breaking News: Edo State Governor Increases Minimum Wage to N70,000

In a landmark move, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has raised the minimum wage for workers in the state civil service to N70,000, starting from May 1, 2024.

The wage hike was revealed by Governor Obaseki during the commissioning ceremony of the Labour House in the state.

Governor Obaseki emphasized his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, stating that the new minimum wage would increase from the previous N40,000 to N70,000.

Furthermore, he pledged to elevate workers’ monthly salaries to surpass N70,000 if the Federal Government approves a new minimum wage for its employees.

The governor announced that comprehensive details regarding the implementation of the new minimum wage would be unveiled to the public during the celebration of this year’s Workers Day on Wednesday, May 1.
