The Member-elect for Gboko-West constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Aondona Dajoh, narrowly escaped assassination on Thursday night.

According to reports, hoodlums attacked him while he was driving home, and although he managed to escape, his vehicle was burnt to ashes.

The incident happened at Gyado Junction in Gboko Local Government Area of the state.

Sources revealed that unknown persons had ambushed the Benue House member-elect, and he abandoned his car and ran for safety when the attackers pounced on him.

The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.

In a text message to our correspondent, Anene said, “Attack on Hon. Aondona Dajoh is confirmed. Though he escaped unhurt, his vehicle was burnt down.

“Investigation into the case is ongoing please.”

In other news, the Western Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has arrested two notorious hoodlums in possession of firearms in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

The arrest of the suspects, identified as Afeez Olaniyan, 27 and Ismail Wahab, 23 followed a tip-off by residents of the area.

According to the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi, the security outfit swung into action immediately upon receiving the information and apprehended the suspects.

The duo had been terrorizing the residents of the area and its environs before their arrest.

In addition to terrorizing the community, the suspects were found to be in possession of a locally-made pistol.

The suspected hoodlums were arrested on Wednesday after receiving a distress call from the residents of the area on the activities of the suspects unleashing attack on the residents of Ita-Olokan Osogbo and it’s environs.

“Our operatives swung into action instantly after the complaint was made and the culprits was arrested and a locally made pistol gun was found on them at the time of their arrest.

“Upon Investigation, they confessed to committing the act and using the firearm to protect themselves,” Adewinmbi affirmed.

Adewinmbi added that the suspects have been handed over to the police for subsequent investigation and interrogation.
