Appeal Court Affirms Oborevwori’s Election As Delta Governor
The Appeal Court, Lagos Division, affirmed Sheriff Oborevwori’s election as the duly elected governor of Delta State in the March 18, 2023, governorship election on Friday.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Delta State governorship, filed an appeal, which the appellate court dismissed.
The court dismissed Omo-Agege’s appeal as without merit. On September 29, the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, seated in Asaba, confirmed Oborevwori’s victory in the March 18 governorship election.
Omo-Agege, on the other hand, filed an appeal with the appellate court against the ruling of the electoral petition tribunal. In its judgment on Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld Oborevwori’s election and dismissed Omo-Agege’s appeal for lack of merit.
The lower tribunal’s decision was also upheld by the appellate court. In a separate decision, the tribunal dismissed Kenneth Gbaji’s appeal against the PDP, APC, and Labour Party, LP, as well as their governorship candidates.
Similarly, in a separate decision, the appellate court dismissed the appeal by the Labour Party, LP, and its governorship candidate, Ken Pela, challenging the lower tribunal’s decision upholding Oborevwori’s election.
