Akuapem Poloo has been granted bail, as thousands sign petition for her to be freed
Akuapem Poloo, the mother of one who was sentenced to 90 days in jail has now been granted bail after thousands of people signed the petition for her to be released.
Akuapem Poloo whose real name is Rosemond Brown, is a popular Ghanaian-Togolese actress in Ghana. She also doubles up as a model, video vixen, brand ambassador, and social media personality. The Accra High Court granted a bail of ¢80,000 to the convicted actress, Akuapem Poloo on Wednesday, April 21, with two sureties to be justified.
The Ghanaian actress had been sentenced to 90 days in jail for snapping naked with her 7-year-old son. Poloo‘s lawyer filed a motion to appeal the 90-day jail sentence . He also filed a motion for bail pending appeal. The bail is what Poloo has now be granted.
As part of her bail condition, Poloo has to report to the case investigator every two weeks and deposit her passport with the registrar of the court. The court, presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey, said she will only travel with the express permission of the court. The court further said the applicant has satisfied the four grounds of bail pending appeal. The application for bail was not opposed by the state who were present in court represented by Senior State Attorney Selasie Kuwornu. According to him, this is because the State had no control over the length of the appeal which could travel beyond the 90 days jail sentence.
