Operation Delta Safe: successful rescue of nine kidnap victims, arrests 10 suspected kidnappers

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta, known as Operation Delta Safe, reported a significant achievement on Monday night.

They successfully rescued nine individuals abducted by gunmen on March 29 along the Ugheli-Patani axis of the East-West road.

Rear Admiral John Okeke, the Commander of the joint military force deployed to the Niger Delta, confirmed the development.

Okeke highlighted that the operation also led to the apprehension of 10 suspected kidnappers. Among those rescued were an NYSC member and a Navy rating.

Okeke emphasised that the primary objective of the rescue mission was to ensure the safety of lives and property in the Niger Delta Region.

The victims had been kidnapped in Delta State, and the operation resulted in their liberation on April 1, 2024.

In his statement, Okeke issued a stern warning to criminal elements operating in the Niger Delta, stressing that there would be no haven for them in the region.

He commended the troops for their bravery and dedication in executing the rescue operation.

Furthermore, Okeke urged the public to collaborate with security agencies by providing valuable information on criminal activities within their communities.
