UNICAL student reportedly abducted in Calabar, kidnappers demand N3m ransom

Celsus Eti-Emanaobong Bernard, a 400-level student at the University of Calabar, was allegedly abducted on the campus grounds by unknown intruders.

Celsus Eti-Emanaobong Bernard, a 400-level student at the University of Calabar, was allegedly abducted on the campus grounds by unknown intruders.

Celsus, a Tourism Studies student, was kidnapped on November 28. While specifics of the event are hazy, it was learned that the abductors brutally murdered the bolt driver who was taking her to her destination.

The abducted student’s brother has resorted to Twitter (now X) to raise the alarm, claiming that the kidnappers are seeking N3 million in ransom. They have threatened to murder her if the ransom is not paid by Monday, December 4.

The young guy, known on Twitter as @eyoUTD419, is also seeking money from well-meaning Nigerians in order to satisfy the ransom demand and guarantee his sister’s release.

He shared photos of his sister and a photo of the Bolt driver’s corpse, with the caption:

“Unical student kidnapped

Celsus, Eti-Emanaobong Bernard

Department: Tourism Studies
400 level, university of calabar.

Believed to have been kidnapped from the school premises on tuesday.

They have given till tomorrow to pay the ransom”
