Terrorists’ leader kills member over slain kidnap victim in Katsina

Confusion kicks in as the leader of a terrorist group killed its member over a slain kidnap victim in Katsina.

This happened in the early hours of 2 am on March 3 after a seven-member terrorist group raided one Umar Abdullahi Ankalele in his residence along Faskari Local Government Area of the state of Katsina state and kidnapped him.

According to reports, the terrorists reportedly ordered the 30-year old victim Umar Abdullahi to follow them and he refused.

Upon refusal, the slain terrorist, identified as Abdullahi Iliya, 30 shot and killed the victim.

However, it was reported that the terrorist leader identified as ‘Yellow’ shot and killed Iliyasu because he was not pleased with such action.

SP Gambo, the Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the development on Tuesday night.

According to him, two suspects, one of which was the younger brother to the slain terrorist; Abubakar Iliyasu, 25, and Nasiru Mohammed, 27 had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The Command’s Spokesman explained, “On March 03, 2022 at about 2.30 a.m, bandits numbering seven (7) armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked the residence of one Umar Abdullahi Ankalele, “M”, aged 30yrs along Dogon Awo feeder road, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state and kidnapped him.

”In the process of taking him away, the victim resisted and refused to follow the kidnappers. Consequently, the kidnappers shot and killed him.

“In the course of the investigation, the duo of Nasiru Mohammed, 27 and Abubakar Iliyasu, 25, both of Faskari Local Government Area, were arrested and confessed to the commission of the crime.

They further confessed that seven (7) of them, under the leadership of one “YELLOW”, a notorious bandit, went to the house to kidnap the said Umar Abdullahi, but when he refused to follow them, one Abdullahi Iliya, 30, a member of the syndicate, shot and killed him with AK 47 rifle. Subsequently, the ring leader, who was not happy with the action of the said Abudullahi Iliya, also shot and killed him. ”

The police spokesman added that Abubakar Iliyasu also confessed that he had participated in several terrorism-related crimes in the council with his blood brother, the slain terrorist.

The two suspects equally revealed the other terrorists who participated in the March 3 operation to include ‘Yellow’; Samaila; Ibrahim and Sani, all of Yankara as well as Dajin Yar-Malamai who is from Faskari Local Government Area.

SP Isah said efforts were on to arrest the five terrorists who were said to be on the run, adding “Investigation is ongoing.”
