32-year-old man arrested for defiling 12-year-old in Imo
The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year- old man, Chibuzor Awurumibe, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
A spokesperson for the police in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, on Thursday, said the suspect also abducted the victim’s 14-year-old sibling and used him for child labor.
Ikeokwu said the state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Muhammed, had ordered an investigation into the crime.
He said, “On December 28, 2020, one Mrs. Ifesinachi Ezekwe of Irette in the Owerri West LGA of Imo State, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Oru West, that since October 6, 2020, her neighbor, Chibuzor Awurumibe, 32, abducted two of her children (names withheld) and that all efforts to trace them proved abortive.
“Sequel to the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Mohammed, directed the command’s anti-kidnapping unit to go into the matter with a view to arresting the suspect and rescuing the children.
“Sequel to that, operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit swung into action and on February 23, 2021, based on a painstaking and diligent investigation, the operatives arrested the said Chibuzor Awurumibe, a native of Okohia in the Isiala Mbano LGA, in Orlu town, and rescued the two children.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that while he was using the boy for child labor, he was using the little girl for sexual satisfaction. It was also revealed that he just finished having carnal knowledge of the girl when he was arrested.
“It was further discovered that he started having carnal knowledge of her while they were living together at Mgbidi, before he decided to take them away.”
