3-storey building collapses in Abuja, workers trapped (photos)

A three-storey building has been confirmed to have collapsed in Abuja, with some workers trapped under the rubble.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 26 in Kubwa area of Abuja, with some workers reportedly trapped.

The 3-storey building, said to be under construction, collapsed at Hamza Abdullahi Street Off Gado Nasco Road in Katampe Ccommunity, Kubwa Resettlement Town.

Confirming the incident, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, stated that the incident happened in the early hours of Friday.

However, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are currently carrying out rescue operations for those under the rubble.

The number of victims who were affected by the collapse is yet to be known, however, a resident confirmed that some injured persons have been rescued and taken to the hospital.
