19-year-old boy kidnaps 4-year-old minor, collects N300k ransom in Edo
A 19-year-old man has been apprehended by the Edo State Police Command after allegedly kidnapping a minor and collecting a ransom of N300,000.
The 19-year-old, identified as Godstime Abhulime kidnapped a four-year-old pupil and collecting a ransom of N300,000.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, the suspect kidnapped the minor, a primary school pupil at Emaudo in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Adegboye said the suspect would soon be taken to court.
TopNaija gathered that the suspect was a relative of the victim and lured her out of the house on a motorcycle to an unknown destination.
An anonymous source close to the family, who spoke to the press, explained that the suspect and his accomplices kept the minor in captivity for two days before reaching out to her parents for ransom negotiation.
The source said that Destiny, also known as “Paulo,” one of the suspect’s partners, called the victim’s family and asked for a N7 million payment.
That being said, the victim’s family did report the crime to the Ekpoma district police office, who then went on the hunt for the suspect.
He said that the family paid N300,000 to get the girl back after many talks and out of fear that the kidnappers would hurt the victim.
“One of the suspects, Godstime who is relation of the victim was later arrested and confessed to the police they kidnapped the baby in order to get money to bail themselves from some cult members who threatened to kill them,” the source said.
