“You have not eaten, you are shouting Goal!” – Singer, Portable Mocks Nigerians Celebrating Super Eagles Win Amidst Economic Hardship (VIDEO)
Popular Nigerian Street singer, Portable has taken a swipe at Nigerians celebrating the victory of the Super Eagles over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Taking to his social media page, Portable stated that the country’s citizens should come together as one and focus on uniting against hardship and hunger rather than focusing on football wins.
Taking a swipe at Nigerians, he pointed out that while people are jubilant over the Super Eagle’s success, many are faced with the effects of poverty and lack of basic necessities.
He urged his fellow countrymen to reflect on their priorities, questioning the rationale behind celebrating a football victory while neglecting the dire economic situation in the country
The singer spoke on the rising exchange rates, lamenting the on the current state of the Nigerian currency and its impact on people’s lives.
He said:
‘’My people, pray for Nigeria. Hungry wan kill us.
You people should sit down and ask yourself
‘Why am I happy? Why am I dancing up and down? Have I eaten? Dollar has risen. Euro is running.
Where is the Naira? You are not thinking about your life, you’re watching football, opening your chest.
Your wife and children are at home, they have not eaten and you are shouting ’Goal! Goal!, Up Nigeria!”
