Kayode Fayemi, minister of mines and steel development, says Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, cannot “drag him to the mud”.

Fayose had alleged that the minister was plotting to unseat him through the supreme court.

But speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, during a condolence visit to the family of Festus Famuagun, a community leader, Fayemi said the governor was entitled to his opinion, and could continue to “entertain himself.”

“You know that I would never join issues with Governor Fayose. He is entitled to his opinion and he is free to entertain himself, so let him continue to entertain himself,” Fayemi said.

“At the appropriate time, he would meet his comeuppance. I don’t belong in the mud, so he cannot drag me to the mud. Truth is always constant and I know posterity is there to judge.”

While thanking God for the life of the late Famuagun, Fayemi said he lived an exemplary life.

He urged his children to be consoled by their father’s good name.

“We thank God for Baba’s life. He lived an exemplary life, we shall continue to promote the values that he represented,” he said.

Famuagun was the father of the late Olufunmilayo Olayinka, Fayemi’s former deputy governor.
