Yobe housewife arrested for Stabbing husband to Death

Police operatives in Yobe have arrested Zainab Isa, a 22-year-old housewife, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Ibrahim Yahaya, to death in Damaturu, the state capital.

Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the state police command in Yobe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.

He reported that the suspect stabbed her 25-year-old husband with a knife following an argument at Abbari ward.

The police were alerted by a neighbour, who reported the altercation that began around 9:00 am on June 26, 2024.

The argument escalated into a physical fight, during which Isa allegedly stabbed Yahaya in the chest. He succumbed to his injuries before the police arrived.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Isa claimed she did not intend to kill her husband, asserting she acted in self-defence during a beating and kicking incident.

She was reportedly still recovering from a recent medical operation following childbirth.

“The command is saddened by the unfortunate actions of a couple that led to the death of a promising young man due to the consequences of an abusive marriage,” Abdulkarim stated.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather more details about the incident.
