"Yahaya Bello is seeking third term in Office" -- Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, the candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Kogi State governorship election, has made serious allegations against the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello.

According to Melaye, Governor Yahaya Bello is covertly seeking a third term in office by using Ahmed Ododo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, as a front.

Melaye voiced his claims during an interview on Channels Television, where he contended that Governor Bello is attempting to circumvent the constitutional term limits by supporting Ododo’s candidacy.

He emphasized that Bello himself cannot appear on the ballot for a third term.

In Melaye’s view, if elected, Ododo would function as a mere figurehead, with Governor Bello continuing to wield significant influence behind the scenes.

He argued,

“Don’t be deceived that Yahaya Bello is not on the ballot. Ododo is physically on the ballot, but Yahaya Bello is the one seeking a third term through a proxy.”

Melaye further asserted his desire for the focus of the upcoming election to be on the policies and vision of his political party rather than becoming a debate solely about Yahaya Bello’s alleged manipulation of the political process.

The former Senator has built himself as a staunch critic of the Yahaya Bello government ever since falling apart with the APC government during President Muhammadu Buhari’s reign as President.
