It’s An Insult—Wike On Atiku Succeeding Buhari

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has approved an allocation of N280.3 million for scholarships to 13,946 poor students at all educational levels in the FCT.

Dr. Danlami Hayyo, Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat for the FCT Administration, made the news during a ceremony in Gwagwalada on Thursday. The celebration of the quick restoration of 19 public schools in the Federal Capital Territory took place at the School of the Gifted in the Gwagwalada Area Council.

Hayyo emphasised that the financial aid was intended for poor students, including both new enrollees and current beneficiaries from various educational institutions. The project seeks to ensure that no child is left behind by promoting equal access to education for all.

Additionally, the minister’s initiatives go beyond scholarships and school restoration. He has restored the school sports festival, which had been inactive for 25 years, demonstrating his commitment to establishing a suitable learning atmosphere that fosters the aspirations of young people.

Initiatives like these are critical in Nigeria, where over 10 million children are out of school, particularly in the north due to poverty, gender inequities, and insecurity. Government and NGO efforts supporting education access, particularly for vulnerable communities, are critical steps towards addressing this issue.

However, permanent solutions necessitate comprehensive plans that include economic development, security improvements, and community engagement. These initiatives are critical to ensuring that every kid has the opportunity to get a great education and reach their full potential, resulting in a brighter and more prosperous future for the Federal Capital Territory.
