"Why Tupac never came out" -- Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith, while promoting her memoir titled “Worthy,” has unveiled another shocking revelation about her close friend and ‘soulmate,’ Tupac Shakur.

In a recent conversation with People magazine, she disclosed that the late rap legend suffered from alopecia, a condition characterized by hair loss.

Pinkett Smith, who also grapples with alopecia, disclosed,

“I don’t think Tupac ever talked about the alopecia he suffered from.”

She went on to explain that Tupac’s alopecia became more pronounced after an incident in Northern California where he was assaulted by police officers.

According to her, “he started losing his hair, and his alopecia patterns were far more extreme than mine.”

Tupac Shakur had a legal battle with the Oakland Police Department following the assault, eventually settling the case. Despite his visible hair loss, he chose to keep his condition a secret due to societal pressures.

Jada Pinkett Smith reflected,

“I don’t think Pac ever talked about his alopecia, but he also looked really good with a bald head.

“But that was during a time and during an era that you wouldn’t—he just wouldn’t talk about it.”

Jada Pinkett Smith’s friendship with Tupac dates back to their high school days at the Baltimore School for the Arts, where they met as teenagers.

She speculated,

“I’m sure if [Shakur] were alive today, he would speak out about his condition publicly.”

The actress, best known for her roles in movies like “Girls Trip” and “Collateral,” herself came forward about her struggle with alopecia in 2018.

She expressed her hope that discussing the condition openly could help eliminate the stigma and shame surrounding it.

In a previous interview with Rolling Out, Jada Pinkett Smith referred to Tupac as her ‘soulmate’ but clarified that their relationship was not romantic due to a lack of chemistry.

She described their bond as a “friendship love chemistry” and believed it was a purposeful connection that they were not meant to turn into a romantic relationship.
