Why Liverpool will never win another EPL title under Klopp

The Premier League title is a boogey trophy for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

Now, this headline might come to bite back if Liverpool ultimately ends up winning the Premier League title this season. But following the disaster class by the Merseyside team, the Reds moving back into top spot will only take the team above them bottling the advantage Liverpool had ironically given them.

The 2-2 draw at Old Trafford will be a draw that will haunt Liverpool fans perhaps for seasons to come, if the two points dropped at the famous ground to their arch rivals, Manchester United, becomes the very points that denies them the premier league title.

This is a league where goal difference determines the title on the very last match day, or a one point deficit could prove costly, like Liverpool ironically enough should know by now.

But if there is a team that never learns from its mistake, then Liverpool has no contest with any rival. Twice, they have lost the premier league title by a narrow margin of 1-point, and both times at the cost of their own mistake of allowing too many draws in games they held the advantage.

In the 2021/22 season, Liverpool had every opportunity to come out with wins against Manchester City, Brentford, Chelsea and many others if they had managed to hold down their lead to the last whistle of the game just like they failed to against Manchester United.

Had they held down their 2-0 lead at the Stamford Bridge or their 3-2 lead versus Brentford or at the very least the 2-1 lead handed them by Mohamed Salah after his outrageous goal against Manchester City, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp would have won the league title a second time without needing to make Klopp’s last season that big of a deal.

But they failed. Twice they failed to take the rarest of chances to win those games at full time whistle. The 2018/19 season was of course a very similar scenario but the Reds will be excused as that season was their first venture into a title race. Fool me once, the saying says, but repeating the same mistakes twice over, then perhaps they would have to be specialists in failure to keep doing the same things and expecting a better outcome.

Debates will be held to suggest that the premier league title race isn’t over or technically out of reach for Liverpool, but that will be them banking on either Manchester City or Arsenal to drop points in subsequent games, and if the prior seasons had anything to tell us, it is that we have been here before.

Why let others do for you that which you cannot do for yourself?

And if Jurgen Klopp’s time at Liverpool is anything to describe, it is practically that.

Of course, Arsenal and Manchester City have the probability of not being able to win all their remaining premier league fixtures, but what says Liverpool can if they cannot even beat a Manchester United team so low on confidence?

Are Liverpool guaranteed a win against Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Fulham, West Ham United or even Wolves on final match day?

Nothing is out of the realm of possibility, but Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side expecting a second premier league title in what they describe as ‘a last dance’ that so far has gone begging, is them asking favor of chance.

Liverpool will not win another premier league title, and it is not because Arsenal and Manchester City will win all their remaining games, but because Liverpool are not good enough in defense and in attack. And Manchester United, if anything, has proven it.
