Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed the reason for her absence from the film industry.

In an interview, the veteran actress explained that she decided to take a break to reorganize herself after being in the industry for 28 years.

Omotola also stated that her hiatus does not mean that she has quit acting as she has contributed her quota to the industry over time.

The actress disclosed that she needed to take time off to focus on other aspects of her life such as her family and businesses.

“I slowed down for many reasons. You know we started a long time ago, I think people forget that I have been in the industry for 28 years. So sometimes, you have to re-organize yourself. I can’t continue to pump out movies the way I have and not grow. So I’m growing. And what that means is that I need time to do other things,” she said.

She also revealed that she has adult children who she needed to take care of, and she had to move back a little bit to grow her businesses. Omotola owns a studio in Lagos, Nigeria, and is also into real estate. She recently relocated to the United States and has businesses there that she needs to grow.

Omotola, who is known for her exceptional acting skills, has won several awards, including the Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the African Movie Academy Awards. She has also been honored by the Nigerian government with the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award for her contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Despite her break from acting, Omotola remains a force to reckon with in the entertainment industry. She has continued to inspire upcoming actors and actresses to keep at their craft and remain focused on their goals.

“So I guess the beginning, just getting into something you believe will pay off eventually. Sometimes, it’s very hard. But if you believe in what you’re doing, keep at it. If you’re serious and focused, in time everybody will come around,” she added.
