Why FG converts Zaria hotels for aviation training

The Federal Government has announced plans to convert Zaria Hotels in Kaduna State into classrooms and hostels for the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo revealed this decision to the press on Wednesday during a familiarization tour of the institution.

Keyamo explained that the acquisition of Zaria Hotels as an annexure to NCAT aims to support the college’s expansion and growth potential. He emphasized that NCAT is a premier institution for aviation training in Nigeria and West Africa, and the additional facilities will enhance its capabilities.

“The landmass we have here is enough for expansion, so the potential for the college, in terms of growth, is great. However, we have also acquired Zaria Hotels to add to the existing facilities,” said Keyamo.

The minister assured NCAT’s management that the government remains committed to addressing areas needing improvement.

He also dismissed rumours about relocating the college’s fire simulator and other facilities, labelling them as misinformation spread by mischief-makers.

Acting Rector of NCAT, Joseph Imalighwe, expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit and ongoing support for the college.
