What the World Leaders have said of Israel's attack on Gaza

In the aftermath of the tragic airstrike in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of foreign civilian aid workers, global leaders have unequivocally condemned the incident and demanded accountability from Israel, despite Israeli authorities maintaining that the attack was accidental.

The strike claimed the lives of several foreign nationals, including three British aid workers, a Polish national, an Australian, a Palestinian, and a dual US-Canadian citizen, who were on a diplomatic mission to the crisis-torn region.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak voiced his concerns directly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing the situation in Gaza as “increasingly intolerable” and demanding a thorough and transparent independent investigation into the attack and killing of the aid workers.

Sunak emphasized the need for Israel to end restrictions on humanitarian aid and ensure the protection of civilians.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also expressed his country’s outrage during a lengthy conversation with Netanyahu, insisting on a “full and proper explanation” for the airstrike.

Similarly, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski demanded an independent investigation into the incident from his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, underscoring the need for accountability.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the necessity of “full accountability” and deeming it “absolutely unacceptable” for aid workers to be targeted by the IDF.

Despite international condemnation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintained that the airstrike was unintentional, assuring that every effort would be made to prevent such incidents from recurring.

IDF Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi acknowledged the gravity of the mistake, attributing it to misidentification.

Even US President Joe Biden, a staunch ally of Israel, criticized the incident, stressing the importance of deconflicting military operations with humanitarian efforts to prevent civilian casualties.

As calls for justice and transparency mount from around the world, the families of the deceased aid workers await answers while global leaders continue to seek assurances that such tragedies will not be repeated.
