What Liverpool are planning for the Summer Transfer
With Jurgen Klopp considering the 2022/23 season as one that shouldn’t repeat itself, Liverpool are gearing for a busy summer transfer.
It has already been confirmed that players will be making their exit from the club in the summer transfer window but the interest has been on what the Reds will do in their Midfield department, a key area that has been widely talked about in the current campaign.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified Stefan Bajcetic as a key player in the club’s midfield rebuild next season. Despite the Reds being linked to several high-profile midfield targets, the 19-year-old Serbian is expected to have a significant role to play at Anfield.
Bajcetic joined Liverpool’s academy in 2020 from Celta Vigo and has been impressing in the club’s youth setup. He is yet to make his senior debut for the Reds, but Klopp is said to be a huge admirer of the youngster’s abilities and believes he has a bright future ahead of him.
The young midfielder has been compared to Liverpool’s current captain Jordan Henderson due to his work rate, leadership qualities and technical ability. It is believed that Bajcetic has been training with the first team in recent weeks and Klopp has been impressed with his performances.
Liverpool’s midfield is set for a major overhaul this summer, with Georginio Wijnaldum leaving the club in 2021 and several other players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, James Milner potentially leaving this summer. The likes of Mason Mount and Alexis Mac Alister have been linked with moves to Anfield, but it appears Klopp is keen to give Bajcetic a chance to prove himself in the first team no matter what.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are unlikely to sign another right-back this summer despite the uncertainty over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future. The England international has been linked with a move away from Anfield, but Klopp is said to be confident that the 23-year-old will stay at the club.
Instead, Liverpool could turn to 18-year-old Conor Bradley to provide cover for Alexander-Arnold. The Northern Irishman has been on loan at Bolton Wanderers this season and has impressed with his performances in League One.
Bradley is highly rated by Liverpool’s coaching staff and is seen as a potential star of the future. Klopp is said to be keen to give him a chance to prove himself in the first team, with the youngster expected to feature in cup competitions and potentially even the Premier League next season.
Overall, it appears that Klopp is looking to give Liverpool’s academy graduates a chance to shine next season, as he looks to build a new-look team capable of challenging for major honours once again.
