What Boehly did when confronted following Chelsea’s defeat

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly faced the wrath of angry fans after the club’s 2-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

The American businessman, who led the consortium that completed the £4.25 billion takeover of Chelsea in May 2022, was present at the stadium as he watched his club suffer their third successive defeat under caretaker manager Frank Lampard.

Brighton secured the victory over Chelsea with goals from Danny Welbeck and Julio Enciso. Some Chelsea supporters directed their frustration towards Boehly, who was seated in the directors’ box. Images captured the moment when the American was subjected to criticism from fans seated above him inside the stadium.

According to reports, after the game, Boehly went to the home dressing room, where he stayed for almost an hour, along with fellow owner Behdad Eghbali. Spanish journalist Manu Sanchez stated that the American was later seen making a “swift exit” from Chelsea’s home ground after finally emerging from the dressing room.

The defeat against Brighton is a major blow to Chelsea’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season. The club is currently in eleventh place.

Chelsea fans have expressed their disappointment at the recent results and the performance of the team, and the confrontation with Boehly is a further indication of their frustration.
