Wenger Picked The Right Moment to Come Home—Mikel Arteta

Arsene Wenger may have managed another club besides Arsenal Football Club, but if there is one club he will forever be associated with, it is Arsenal, and as funny as it may sound now, Mikel Arteta was one of his students during his years of management.

The professor as the Gunners fan base have come to know the manager as, led the club to glory in years back and was one of the key factors that revamped the premier league, so it was right that he one day returned to watch the Gunners in their victory against West Ham.

Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, has sent a message to Arsene Wenger, the club’s iconic manager, when he finally made it back to the Emirates Stadium to watch their Boxing Day 3-1 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger was welcomed at the North London club by Mikel Arteta, who said that the Frenchman chose the appropriate time because the Arsenal players were unaware of his visits.

Since leaving the Premier League club in 2018 after 22 years, Wenger had not been to Arsenal.

The 73-year-old was treated to an inspiring comeback as Arsenal, who defeated West Ham, consolidated their lead atop the Premier League standings.

Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka scored goals for Arteta’s team to defeat David Moyes’ team.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Arteta said: “Arsene [Wenger] picked the right moment. I thought the performance today was at the level he deserved.

“The players didn’t know. It was a special day, so thank you so much [to Wenger] for coming. Walking through the stadium, he’s going to feel what everyone thinks of him…he’s been such an influence.”
